Christina R. Force has been a K-9 handler for 17 years out of her 21 years of law enforcement experience. She has dedicated her career to canines in law enforcement in the fields of CDS detection and man trailing with a bloodhound. She has handled three CDS detection and two bloodhounds during those 17 years. Force is also certified to instruct Article Search and Patrol disciplines as well as a national instructor in the field of man trailing. She has trained 24 of the 26 current drug detection K9 teams with her agency and is responsible for the administration of the K9 CDS program. Force earned her promotion to Sergeant in 2006 and immediately entered the College of Southern Maryland and after a year of study earned a certification in Veterinary Assistant Medicine. Force has seen, all too often, a gifted canine suffer an injury that can be corrected by surgery. It is unfortunate but understandable that very costly veterinary medicine is not always available to law enforcement canines and their handlers. Law enforcement departments are often left with very hard decisions that often leave the handler, handler’s families, and community devastated by these decisions. These facts are the very reason Force is so passionate about this cause. Force resides in Charles County, Maryland with her husband, 3 yr. old son, and two police canines that are all involved in the ZimMiki Injured Police Dogs Fund. |
